Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination Registration Begins Soon

Upon a lengthy discussion we had with the NTC on the issue of Licensure exam and the NSS this week and I would like to bring the developments to your notice.
The registration for the licensure exam will start just after the release of our results by Cape Coast

And the exam shall take off from 24th to 26th September It is only those that will pass the two papers that will be allowed to register for the licensure exam. Our NSS will start in January 2020. The reason being that those that may fail the licensure exam, will be given another opportunity to redeem themselves somewhere in November so that they can also be posted together with their colleagues.

An information reaching us also indicated that the Director-General of GES has directed all head teachers to maintain their NSS personnels in the schools.

Except in a case where there is no vacancy. So on this note, I humbly advice that in paying to be posted to a school of choice, let us consider staying there for 4 years.

Let us not be rush and make money for people. Let’s keep our fingers crossed. Any new development, I duly inform you.

Thank you

Gyan Slams Kwabena Owusu for Revealing $200k Black Stars Appearance Fee

Asamoah Gyan has hit out at Kwabena Owusu over his confirming that each Black Stars player received $20,000 appearance fees for representing Ghana in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, reports emerged that each player was paid $80,000 as an appearance fee.

However, after the country’s elimination from the tournament, the enterprising forward in an interview confirmed that the players were given $20,000 as appearance fee.

And when quizzed about how much the Black Stars received in appearance fees Gyan avoided the question.

“I won’t answer any question regarding money. It is only in Ghana that the citizenry seems to over contrate on how much the players are paid,” he told.

“I was surprised when he talked about money. He is my boy, but I think that such a delicate issue should be addressed by a senior player, not a young member of the team. Which meeting was he invited to discuss money that should give him the confidence to talk about such a sensitive issue,” he added.

Owusu was one of the three debutants who represented Ghana in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

BoG to Use 5-Months to Destroy New Ghana Cedi Notes

Kwame A-Plus, a known hiplife musician and sympathiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has alleged that the Bank of Ghana will be using about 5-months in destroying the new Ghana cedi notes which were printed under erstwhile John Mahama’s government.

According to him, some of the notes are brand new in containers which are yet to be cleared from the port.

He wrote on his Facebook timeline that, “the Bank of Ghana (BoG) has already spent one-week destroying new cedi notes printed by the previous government but has not succeeded in destroying 10 per cent of the total sum which has to be destroyed.”

“Why is it that every government prints new notes…..You will not believe the cost of printing these notes…..It can build schools and hospitals for many deprived communities…..Why do we take our money, give it to white people to print new money, only to change the design and destroy them…..Why does every government design and print new notes…..I don’t understand it?” he quizzed.

Accountant General to Sign Tertiary Institutions Onto GIFMIS

The Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) has started a programme to sign public tertiary institutions onto the Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS).

Currently, public universities conduct financial transactions outside the GIFMIS platform contrary to the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 926).

The Acting Controller and Accountant General, Mr K. K. Bosompem, told that his department was providing technical support to the tertiary institutions to enable them to be on the GIFMIS, which tracks and harmonises all payments from the Consolidated Fund.

He said the CAGD was also providing them with the guidelines to help the institutions onboard by the end of August 2019.

Mr Bosompem said authorities at the various tertiary institutions were complying with the CAGD towards a successful implementation.

The acting Controller and Accountant General indicated that ministries, departments and agencies (MMDAs) were already on the GIFMIS platform.

Govt Direct Salaries Through E-Zwich to Eliminate “Ghost” Names

To eliminate the phenomenon of ‘ghost’ workers once and for all from the government payroll, the Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has asked that all government workers be paid through the filter of the e-zwich card.

To that end, he said, all public sector workers who drew their salaries from the Consolidated Fund must be issued with e-zwich cards if they did not have them.

Dr Bawumia, who was speaking at the launch of a new payment card in Accra on Wednesday, said the biometric features of the e-zwich made it ideal for public sector payments, as it was able to eliminate ghost workers.

Explaining further, he said, the salaries would be paid into every worker’s bank account but would be filtered through the e-zwich system to make sure that the whole public sector payroll was devoid of ghost workers.
